AVATR has unveiled their new car ahead of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s announcement.
It’s a sedan featuring smaller dimensions, a refreshed front face, new color options, and a more dynamic appearance. Meet the AVATR 06.
At first glance, the AVATR 06 stands out with its distinctive personality, creating a stark contrast to the AVATR 12. This sporty feel stems not just from its more vibrant body colors but also from the clever integration of various design elements that together create an athletic appearance.
Starting with the color, AVATR describes it as a skin full of “energy”:
“Like the first ray of dawn breaking through the dark night, or like a fierce fire burning on the horizon, full of passion and vitality.”
While this description might sound abstract, it accurately captures the unique color that sits between red and orange. Currently, this new color hasn’t been officially named, and AVATR has launched a naming contest for it. Netizens have suggested names like Xiaguang Red, Luanxing Red, and Dawn Red, while some “clever” ones have called it Soul Red.

Notably, the AVATR 06 is the first AVATR model to feature a two-tone body design (excluding the Royal Theater Edition). The black roof and side skirts cleverly reduce the visual thickness of the car’s side profile. Combined with the rising waistline, a wheel-height ratio exceeding 1:2, and large five-spoke sport wheels, the side profile becomes a key highlight in showcasing the 06’s sporty characteristics.
The front face design has also evolved, adopting what the brand calls the AVATR 2.0 design philosophy. The daytime running lights now feature a “longer top, shorter bottom” layout, extending downward to the sides of the headlights. This creates a clear distinction from previous designs while maintaining brand consistency, making it instantly recognizable as an AVATR.
The rear follows a similar approach, sharing the overall layout with the AVATR 12 – including the windowless design, slim segmented taillights, illuminated logo, and almost identical diffuser. The main difference is that the 06 eliminates the automatic rear wing, emphasizing instead an upturned ducktail spoiler.

The sporty positioning of the AVATR 06 is clearly reflected in its dimensions. The new car has a length of 4,855mm, compared to the AVATR 12’s 5,020mm, offering a more compact body. Compared to common sedans exceeding 5 meters in length, the 06’s dimensions better suit daily driving needs. Its wheelbase is under 3 meters at 2,940mm, with a width of 1,960mm.
The 06’s height is controlled at 1,450mm, essentially on par with comparable gasoline vehicles in its class (for comparison, the BMW 3 Series has a height of 1,454mm). Given this, the AVATR 06 likely uses a customized H-type sunken battery similar to the AVATR 12 to maintain rear vertical height, presenting certain cost challenges.

The good news is that the AVATR 06 has optimized its sensor configuration, removing the side LiDARs from the fenders and maintaining only a single roof-mounted LiDAR. This design might be similar to the M5’s sensor setup, including 1 LiDAR, 3 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, 7 high-perception cameras, and 4 panoramic cameras.
Notably, the 06’s LiDAR will likely see an upgrade from the M5’s AT128 to the new generation 192-line LiDAR, the same one used on the AVATR 07’s roof.
Regarding power configuration, currently only the pure electric version has been announced. However, given AVATR’s recent hybrid layout, the 06 will likely also offer a version with the Kunlun range extender, featuring a 1.5T engine.
As for pricing, AVATR has positioned the 06 in the 200,000 yuan range, targeting consumers seeking a balance between high quality and reasonable price, aiming to replicate the success of the AVATR 07.
