In September, Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Design directly challenged Apple’s launch event. Along with the emergence of tri-fold phones, it reignited excitement in the increasingly quiet smartphone market.
As a product “venturing into uncharted territory,” the Mate XT Ultimate Design reached new heights in craftsmanship and design. However, due to yield rate limitations, unlike the broad coverage of the Mate series, this phone was destined for small-batch production, with only a lucky few able to experience its unique charm.
However, Huawei moved quickly, not keeping everyone waiting long. Two months later today, Yu Chengdong stood on stage announcing to all audiences the arrival of the “strongest Mate ever”:
The Huawei Mate 70 series and Mate X6 foldable phone are officially launched.
The “Strongest Ever” Mate 70
This launch event introduced 5 different Huawei Mate phones:
- Huawei Mate 70
- Huawei Mate 70 Pro
- Huawei Mate 70 Pro+
- Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design
- Huawei Mate X6
The launch event spent less time on the standard Mate 70, mainly mentioning its 6.7-inch 2688×1216 OLED flat display.
For security, the standard version still features 2D face unlock and side fingerprint sensor.
The highlight of the launch was naturally the Mate 70 Pro and Pro+.
The Huawei Mate 70 Pro and Pro+ maintain consistent design with quad-micro curves of equal depth, featuring a 6.9-inch custom OLED screen with 2832 × 1316 resolution, supporting 1440Hz PWM dimming, and choosing side fingerprint recognition plus 3D face unlock and recognition solutions.
Notably, the Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ back cover uses a new process called “Golden Silk Fabric,” a micro-nano 3D embossing technology creating a fabric-like texture.

Zongjie S800: New Heights for HarmonyOS Smart Car
Following the production of Wenjie, Zhijie, and Xiangjie models, the most mysterious and revered fourth series in HarmonyOS Smart Car – Zongjie – finally unveiled its mystery.
Two weeks ago at the Guangzhou Auto Show press conference, Yu Chengdong concisely summarized the characteristics of Zongjie’s first product:
“Very big, very prestigious, very bright.”

The “Strongest” Mate Across Four Years
In October 2020, when the Huawei Mate 40 series launched, Yu Chengdong first proclaimed the slogan “strongest Mate ever.”
The Star Ring design, air gestures, and air screenshots – features still evolving today – were first born in phones at this special time point.
Four years later, the Huawei Mate 70 series emerges, with inherited and further evolved AI gesture operations and Star Ring image module appearing before everyone again, echoing the shouts from four years ago.
Of course, while the launch event is over, the real experience is just beginning. How do these colors look? How well do the air AI features work? How’s the new Red Maple Natural Color imaging system? iFanr will prepare a series of experiences and reviews to answer these questions.
