At the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show, both Yu Chengdong and Lei Jun were seen as “walking hot topics,” with their every move carrying viral potential.
Moreover, both HarmonyOS Smart Selection and Xiaomi Auto, well-versed in internet operations, chose to hold their auto show press conferences early Friday morning. This strategy allows their trending topics to occupy social media rankings earlier and longer, attracting more attention.
In fact, even before the press conference officially began, HarmonyOS Smart Selection’s booth was already packed with media and exhibitors drawn by the announcement of the “Four Series First Gathering at Guangzhou Auto Show.”
After the successive production of WENJIE, ZHIJIE, and XIANGJIE models, HarmonyOS Smart Selection’s most mysterious and prestigious “Fourth Series” – ZUNJIE – is finally ready to make its public debut.
During the live press conference, when asked to describe ZUNJIE’s first model in simple terms, Yu Chengdong offered three adjectives: “very big, very prestigious, very bright,” adding that “of course, the core is on the inside.”
Due to the large crowds and reservation-only access, DongCheHui couldn’t see the display car in person. After reviewing numerous bloggers’ and media summaries across the internet, we can extract some key information.
First, ZUNJIE’s first car model is the “ZUNJIE S800,” a classic full-size luxury sedan.
The display car features a two-tone body, both wide and long. The front face doesn’t have the rumored standing logo design, but instead uses the diamond logo from ZUNJIE’s official account avatar, which can illuminate. There’s also an illuminated ZUNJIE logo on the D-pillar.
The sides feature split C-shaped headlights, while the taillights are similar to the XIANGJIE S9 but more three-dimensional with starlight accents.
The ZUNJIE S800 still places a LiDAR sensor in the center of the roof, undoubtedly supporting Huawei’s latest ADS advanced intelligent driving assistance system.

According to @Wu Yingsuisui’s Weibo post, light curtain designs are visible throughout the car — “starlight matrix illumination highlights every prestigious detail.”
Thus, in the ZUNJIE S800, we can see elements from the BMW 7 Series, Rolls-Royce Ghost, and XIANGJIE S9. Overall, it certainly lives up to Yu Chengdong’s description of “very big, very prestigious, very bright.”
A car named for prestige that indeed feels prestigious will likely only be truly “seen” by everyone at the launch event on the 26th.
Beyond ZUNJIE, HarmonyOS Smart Selection’s booth gathered models from the other three series. The centerpiece was the recently released ZHIJIE R7, which has already secured over 38,000 pre-orders and delivered 10,000 units in 30 days, along with the upcoming new ZHIJIE S7.
At the press conference, Chery Holdings Group Party Secretary and Chairman Yin Tongyue joined Huawei Executive Director, Terminal BG Chairman, and Smart Car Solutions BU Chairman Yu Chengdong to discuss ZHIJIE R7’s market performance and product highlights, sharing and outlining future cooperation for the ZHIJIE project.
Regarding ZHIJIE R7’s hot sales, Yin Tongyue stated that Chery is still working to increase production capacity, with internal “fights” often occurring over resource allocation. Addressing why the ZHIJIE S7’s sales weren’t as strong as the R7’s, Yin candidly admitted production capacity was the bottleneck: “Now we’ll go all out for ZHIJIE R7, even sacrificing Chery’s capacity to ensure ZHIJIE’s production.”
Yu Chengdong added: “ZHIJIE R7’s test drive cost is very high, around 300,000 yuan, because everyone buys after test driving, and some buyers have brought in 8 friends to purchase.”
Positioned as a pure electric coupe SUV, ZHIJIE R7’s sales are now approaching Model Y’s average monthly figures. Thanks to features like HarmonyOS 4 smart cockpit and ADS 3.0 advanced driving system, ZHIJIE R7 truly stands out as an all-rounder in the 250,000-yuan pure electric SUV segment, with overall product strength particularly notable among peer family vehicles.
Notably, ZHIJIE R7’s range-extended version has recently completed MIIT filing. Though no additional information was revealed at this auto show, this ZHIJIE R7, equipped with the same SQRH4J15 range-extender engine as the Exeed StarET, is expected to officially meet the public in the near future.
